Project Description:

The success of environmental conservation and natural resources management is largely dependent on the support from the local community. The proposed project aims to raise awareness and increase local participation in environmental conservation and climate change adaptation by mainstreaming local and indigenous knowledge. We shall identify sites that have been traditionally protected by the local community which may be for their cultural, social or ecological values. Local traditions and beliefs shall be documented We shall also determine local awareness on climate change and document the local practices to cope with its impacts. The project shall also promote Islamic perspectives on environmental conservation by crafting “Khutba” or sermons that are delivered during Friday mass prayer among the Muslims. In addition, the project shall also document local stories/folklores in a form of story books which shall both preserve local
